Greta Gerwig Praises Russell
Posted in films, interview on September 30th, 2010 by starleigh
Greta Gerwig has compared working with Russell Brand on the Arthur remake to playing speed chess.
The Greenberg star, who takes on the role played by Liza Minnelli in the 1981 original, told Digital Spy that she found the experience of sharing the screen with Brand “tremendous”.
“Acting with Russell is like playing speed chess, he’s so quick and so verbose and so ‘on’ everything before you’re there,” she said. “It’s everything you’d expect with him but he’s so generous and lovely and easy.”
Speaking about Brand’s chemistry with Helen Mirren, who portrays the lead character’s nanny, Gerwig added: “It’s just a beautiful alchemy – him and Helen and how lovely they are together.”
Arthur is due out in cinemas next year.

The Sun: Russ Gets Hammered
Posted in personal on September 26th, 2010 by starleigh
The Sun has a recap of Russell’s stag weekend (editor Gordon Smart was one of the guests).
Excerpt:
After a few hours the inevitable stag destination was sprung on the guests with a trip to PETER STRINGFELLOW‘s Soho strip club.
The lads arrived at 12.30am, after which the proprietor handed Russell the freedom of the club.
Two years ago that would have been worse than asking JOHN TERRY to keep an eye on your girlfriend for the weekend.
The group headed back to The Grove at 1.45am yesterday before an early start for a raft-building competition. The weekend finished with a quiet dinner back at the hotel, recounting the shenanigans of the night before.
