From USAToday:
Clint Eastwood, Russell Brand and David Lynch plan to launch a new initiative on Monday, Dec. 13, to teach 10,000 veterans and their families a simple meditation practice for preventing and treating post-traumatic stress disorder.
The Operation Warrior Wellness launch will highlight a conference to be held at the Paley Center for Media in New York at 11 a.m., and webcast live at Livestream.com/davidlynch, on the research and applications of Transcendental Meditation for PTSD.
An estimated 30% to 35% of the 1.64 million U.S. troops deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq since October 2001 meet criteria for PTSD, according to the Foundation. Meditating veterans from World War II, Vietnam, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan will report on how TM has aided their recovery.
Later on Monday night, Katy Perry, Dr. Oz and Russell Simmons will join the group for a swanky dinner to benefit the foundation.
