I’ve always wondered why the US didn’t have an award show for comedy, and now we finally do.
The first annual Comedy Awards, from the people at Comedy Central, will be broadcast on April 10, and Russell is up for best comedy actor for Get Him to the Greek. The film itself is also up for best comedy film. Despicable Me is nominated as best animated comedy film.
The awards will be broadcast across several US networks – Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1 and Nick At Nite.
And you know I’ll have all the Russell highlights here, right?!
Russell attends the London premiere of Despicable Me, posing with Steve Carrell, fans, and the Minions.
He earlier tweeted, “I’m on my way to Leicester Sq for Despicable Me premiere. I feel a bit poorly so please mollycoddle me” and could be seen with a handkerchief covering his nose in some photos.
Later, he was seen taking off on the back of a scooter, all bundled up. Feel better soon, Russ!
Despicable Me, the animated 3-D film in which Russell voices a character called Dr. Nefario, has opened at #1 in the US box office charts. The film brought in $56.4 million.
Two huge box office hits for Russ in as many months … and now he’s filming another with Dame Helen Mirren. Our boy has done well for himself.
